Budget Work Session
Our school board had discussion about next years budget items at the first budget work session on April 18th.  To give you some highlights from that meeting.  There is a retirement increase for all employees that will require our district to add $600,000 that will come from the general fund towards those contributions for the year.  Title One funding is expected to take a 10% cut and the district is planning to pick up 3 FTE's from that fund.  There was quite a bit of conversation about adding an additional Mental Health counselor to our district.  The board also discussed adding the step increase for employees.  The next meeting is May 8th at 6:00 p.m.  I'll keep you updated as plans are made for next year.

PTO Project Ideas
Continue sending project ideas to me for our PTO.  I will present them to the PTO council on May 8th.
Congratulations
Congratulations again to our TOY, Paul Winningham and our SSOTY, Sherry Dominick!!  It was a unique experience to recognize these two special people in front of our students at lunch on Thursday.  The students were just as excited as we were to announce this award.
Testing
We are very close to the end of SCREADY and SCPASS testing for this year.  Keep pushing your students to work hard and do their very best.  We will draw for the remaining prizes (big and small) after the last make up is complete.

What a week.....impromptu half day for weather, donuts for dads, field testing, stomach bug, career fair, 2 field trips, and the BOGO book fair.  There is NO April Fools about this week!  We made it. It is Spring Break time!

Cub Lab Key
The leadership team brought a safety concern to my attention at our last meeting.  The concern was that there was no way to lock the cub lab in the case of a lockdown or emergency.  There is now a key in the room.  In the case of a lockdown, the key is in the cabinet (right side) on the shelf.  It is in an envelope seen below.  If you ever use it, please make sure to put it back.  Thanks to the leadership team for bringing this to our attention.

 Shout Out Drawing
I did a drawing for the Shout Out board today.  If you were selected, you have either a Jean Pass or a Gone Fishing Pass in your box.  Continuing using this board to pat each other on the back.  I'll do a better job of weekly drawings.  :)

Contracts
Don't forget to sign and return your contracts.  You have until May 11th.  If you know you are coming back, please get it back to Ms. Cindy ASAP or by April 18th.

T for Thank You
We have lots of folks sick or  have children who are sick or in some cases, both.  Thank you for you patience the last few days and weeks.  I've had to ask folks to help cover, to split classes, and to quickly drop things to help.  Not once, I repeat....not once has anyone complained.  You folks are amazing.  You are always willing to help each other out and I thank you for that!  It is never ideal, but you put our children first and make it happen.  Thank you!
Testing
Just a friendly reminder, as we start our full testing schedule on the Monday that we return, PLEASE take down all writing in the hallways.  Artwork and pictures are OK.  Just do not need to see any written work of any kind.  There are still some items up.  Please make sure they are removed first thing Monday, April 17th.  Thanks!

When we return, we are hitting the ground running.  Take time this week to rest, relax, and fill your days with the things you love most.  I'll be thinking of you all and hoping you have the very best Spring Break!

Throw your hands up, its SPRING BREAK!!!!!!!!

Spring Fling
Continue signing up to help at the Spring Fling on April 21st.  There is a number by each station so you'll know how many adults are needed for each time.  Some need one adult and some need two adults for each shift.  Do know that the Middle School Betas are planning to help again this year.  Each station will have at least one (maybe two) Betas to help.  All of our Bakers (or those kin to a Baker), don't forget to sign up to bring a cake for the Cake Walk.  It is ALWAYS so popular!!

ONE MORE WEEK FOLKS, ONE MORE WEEK!!!!!!
