 PTO Auction Baskets
The PTO is requesting grade/content level support by our staff by submitting a themed basket for the Auction for Academics.  Our PTO is very supportive in our requests for our school, this is just one small way we can give back.  As a suggestion, the most popular baskets from last year were the "SuperHero", "Kid-Related" and "Gift-Card" baskets.  Please bring your basket to the main office by Wednesday, November 16th to be tagged for the Auction that Friday night.  See me with any questions
Testing
ITBS testing will be going on in our 2nd grade classrooms on Wednesday and Thursday mornings.  Please remind your classes of ZONE 0 when moving in the hallways.
"Teach or Treat"

"Teach or Treat", Oh How Neat, You'll Get Something Good to Eat!"  Mark your calendars!!!  Stop by the workroom for a treat on Monday, October 31st and then enjoy a duty free lunch on Tuesday, November 1st.  Special thanks to the Sunshine Committee for putting these two days together!!  Those members are Cindy Long, Dona Pitts, Hayley Jacobs, Alex Pruitt, Janet Ashmore, Amy Russell, and Kayla Lawson.

Student Data Reports (3rd-5th)
The SCREADY score reprints will not be received in the district until October 25th.  As a result, we will not be able to distribute with report cards.  We will hold all student score reports for SCPASS and send them all home with the SCREADY reports on November 2nd.  The district would rather them all go home at once than separately.

 Professional Dress Reminders
The topic of dress code came up at my last Principal's meeting, so I bring it back to you for attention and consideration.  Our district administrators are frequently in schools and have growing concerns over professional dress.  No school was named, but this is a great time for reminders.  Please refer back to the dressing for success section in our staff handbook.  A few highlights to remember:
  • On Friday's we will have special "Denim Days" at which time you can wear jeans with a t-shirt.  The t-shirt should be teacher, education, or school related.  If you purchase a jean pass for the middle of the week the same applies for the shirt.
  • No t-shirts during the week unless it is Friday or you've turned in a jean pass.
  • When in doubt, don't wear it!  This is key.  When you look in the mirror, ask yourself what does my dress say about me today?  Is it a professional example for my children?
 District Wednesday
Unless you received an email from me today (Friday), your district Wednesday meeting will be held in Mrs. Thompson's room (406).  Mrs. Thompson will be presenting information on Kahoot.  The grade level times are as follows:
PK-2 @ 3:15 p.m.
3-5 @ 4:00 p.m.
Red Ribbon Week
Mrs. Washington has arranged for Michael Stribble with the Newberry County Sheriff's Office to come kick-off Red Ribbon Week on Monday.  He will speak with our younger students about Halloween safety and not taking candy from strangers.  He will also stress that police officers are our friends.  He will speak to the older students about drug and alcohol abuse and prevention.   Please bring your class to the multipurpose room at the times below:
PK-2 @ 9:00-9:20
3rd-5th @ 9:30-10:00

The sign up sheet for Trunk-or-Treat will come out first thing next week.  Mrs. Washington will let you know when you can start signing up.

GCA Changes
Ms. Linda Cannon will  be returning to PGE starting on Monday.  She will be assigned to the 2nd-5th grade hallway.

Congratulations again to our 2016-2017 Distinguished Reading Teacher of the Year, Hayley Jacobs!!
